I’m super honored to be a part of National Novel Writing Month this year! “NaNoWriMo” challenges participants to write a novel of at least 50,000 words in the 30 days of November. While I won’t be writing myself (maybe next year?), I did get to design the poster and lots of other fun stuff, like the T-shirt, web badges, stickers, and more. The folks at the Office of Letters and Light have been fun to work with, and I know they put a lot of heart (and hard work!) into making this event happen.
There are a TON of great features they’ve just added to their website to support participants, but my fave (of course) is “30 covers, 30 days”. 30 lucky participants will each get a cover designed for their book by one of 30 amazing designers. I’M SO JEALOUS. seriously. I want a cover for my book designed by John Gall, Chip Kidd, or Heads of State! ( I also hope someday I’m cool enough to be included in that list of book designers. First step, convince someone to hire me to design a book cover.)
For those of you in the SF area, they’ll also be hosting a number of “pep talks”. I’d love to hear Aimee Bender, Dave Eggers, and Lemony Snicket cheer on a room of sleep-deprived NaNoWriMo writers.
